To set any options for PopAddress just click the “Prefs” button from the PopAddress Control Panel window.
Here is the description of the check boxes:
• Icon at Start-up:
If checked, an icon will be displayed during startup.
• Command-click text save/close:
If checked, command-clicking text while editing will automatically save the note and close the PopAddress editor window (this is only useful if you have Internet Config & ICeTEe installed, for launching URLs).
• Dial with Modem:
If checked, dialing any number with PopAddress will dial through the modem (rather than just dial using the Mac’s speaker).
• Double Click = Copy All/AutoPaste:
If checked, double-clicking a name in the list will be the same as selecting the “Copy All Text and Paste Into App” menu option.
Here is the description of the radio buttons (Popup menu option #1):
• Dial:
If selected, option #1 in the PopAddress popup menu will dial the phone number of the selected record.
• Paste Email:
If selected, option #1 in the PopAddress popup menu will paste the email address from the selected record into whatever application you’re in.
• Paste Address:
If selected, option #1 in the PopAddress popup menu will paste the address from the selected record into whatever application you’re in.
• Ask:
If selected, option #1 in the PopAddress popup menu will ask what of the above three options you’d like to perform with whatever record you’ve chosen.
Here is the description of the popup menus:
• Font Info:
Lists: You can change the font and size used in the lists.
Text: You can change the font and size used when printing.
Buttons:

You can change settings used by PopAddress when exporting by clicking this button. Here are the particular settings that can be changed:
a) Fields to export (here you can select which fields to include when exporting and which order to export them in)
b) Export field delimiter (here you can choose whether to have the file created in Tab or Comma delimited format)
TAB: Tab delimited files will have a tab character between every field and will have a return character after every record.
COMMA: Comma delimited files will have a quote character " before and after every field as well as a comma between every field written and will have a return character after every record.
NOTE: Every time an export file is created, the first record will contain a list of field names as exported.

You can change modem dialing settings by clicking this button.
a) Edit boxes:
Init String - Enter the modem initialization string for your modem here if the default “ATEQ0V1” does not work for you.
Dial Delay - How many seconds to wait before dialing again after a busy signal.
Num Rings - How many rings to wait before closing dial window
Dial Outside Access - Check this box if you need to dial a special number to access an outside line. If you do, enter the number(s) into the edit box to the right of the check box and enter a comma after the number(s) to allow a delay after dialing the outside access number(s) if needed.
a) Radio buttons:
Modem Port - Select this option if your modem is hooked up to your modem port (the default)
Printer Port - Select this option if your modem is hooked up to your printer port
Tone Dial - Select this option if your phone lines allow tone dialing (the default)
Pulse Dial - Select this option if your phone lines allow only pulse dialing
a) Check boxes:
Speaker Off - Turn your modem’s speaker off when dialing.
Speaker mute - Mute your modem’s speaker when dialing.
Speaker Low - Turn the volume of your modem’s speaker to low when dialing.
Fast Modem Dial - Dial using the modem’s fast dialing capabilities.
Flash Hook - Will send a flash hook command after dialing.
Beep if Ringing - Will beep if the phone is ringing after a busy signal finally connects if the “Redial if Busy” option is checked.
Redial if Busy - Will redial if the line was busy.
Delay When Speaker Dialing - Will add a pause between each number sound played when using the speaker to dial a number.
Special Applications:
You can create a list of applications that cause problems while using PopAddress. If the application is completely PopAddress unfriendly you can turn PopAddress off in the application entirely by checking the "Turn Off PopAddress in this application". Sometimes an application will have problems with certain aspects of PopAddress such as the auto-copy, auto-paste, or clip conversion. If so, uncheck the appropriate check boxes depending on what problems you are having with the application (you'll have to experiment with applications to find what will work).
To add an application to the list, click the “Add” button, select the application and click the “Open” button. Check the appropriate check boxes for that application. To change options for an application already in the list, select the application in the list and click the “Edit” button. To remove an application from the list, select it with the mouse and click the “Remove” button.
